ABOUT THE FILM:
Untitled Ice Immersion Documentary will follow the Phoenix Fire Department’s emergency division during the July 2025 heatwave as they respond to heat stroke calls and implement an innovative, live-saving technique: ice immersion therapy.
We hope that by featuring the first responders’ efforts to keep their communities safe, we’ll paint a moving portrait of human resilience while spotlighting a life-saving technique, which will foster wider adoption.
THE TEAM:
Jonathan Pickett is an Emmy-nominated creative producer / director. His work has been released through The New Yorker, GQ Magazine, and The Atlantic; screened at film festivals like Tribeca, Seattle, Phoenix, and Austin; and received grant support from Sundance Institute, Stept Studios, and New Filmmakers LA. He has been supported as a fellow through BendFilm: Basecamp and Windrider Institute.
Nita Blum has built a diverse career spanning over 20 years in the TV and film industry as an editor, producer, and director. She has worked for Sundance Institute, National Geographic, and History Channel. She holds a Master of Arts in Documentary Studies from Northern Arizona University and now serves as Clinical Assistant Professor of Production at the Poitier Film School at Arizona State University, and as a SAFE Set Coordinator. In addition, Nita serves as the Film Resource Liaison for the Arizona Film Office and is an active board member of the Arizona Production Association, dedicated to supporting Arizona's vibrant filmmaking community.
